Welcome, Paw-Sport Travelers

Paw-Sport: A World of Possibilities

Grab your Paw-Sport. We’re going on an adventure!

Your teammate has four paws, opinions about the treats, and possibly a completely different interpretation of the itinerary.

Perfect.

Agility. Rally. Tricks. Games. New experiences. Or any Adventure that gets the two of you exploring, communicating, playing, and figuring things out together.

There’s a whole world of possibilities waiting for your team.

Where will your paws take you?

🐾 Let’s Go!

Your Adventure Journal

Meet Your Paw-Sport

Every great Traveler needs somewhere to keep the stories.

Your Paw-Sport is the adventure journal of the places you and your dog go, the things you try, and the possibilities you explore together.

And here's the best part: there is no official Paw-Sport.

Grab a notebook. Make one. Decorate it. Give your team a name. Fill the pages with stories, photos, doodles, discoveries, glorious flops, things that made you laugh, and moments you want to remember.

Because Paw-Sport isn't about proving that you mastered something.

It's about being able to look back at an Adventure and say:

WE WENT THERE.

You tried it. You explored it. Something happened there that became part of your team's story.

That's worth putting in the Paw-Sport.

Where to Next?

Pick a Paw-Sport Adventure

Need somewhere to start? Here are a few possibilities.

Choose one. Change it. Follow it somewhere unexpected. Or completely ignore us and invent an Adventure that fits your team better.

Your Paw-Sport. Your itinerary.

Agility — This Way, Teammate!

Movement, timing, communication, and the joyful puzzle of trying to have approximately the same plan.

Try something that fits your team today—a handling game, an obstacle, a sequence, or simply playing with movement together.

What helped the two of you understand each other?

Rally — Follow the Signs

A turn. A pause. A few steps together. A sign that apparently looked much easier before you started doing it.

Pick something to explore and see what happens when the two of you work through it together.

What helped you reconnect when your plans went in different directions?

Tricks — Delightfully Unnecessary

A wave. A bow. A useful little task. Or something with absolutely no practical purpose except making both of you ridiculously happy.

Break out the treats and see where curiosity takes you.

What made your teammate want to keep playing?

Or... Go Somewhere Else

Try a new trail. Explore a new place. Play a new game. Take a class. Try a dog sport you've always wondered about. Invent something completely your own.

If it gives you and your dog a chance to explore, communicate, play, or figure something out together...

Sounds like a Paw-Sport Adventure to us.

Try an Experiment

Can Your Dog Read Your Mind?

You pictured the turn perfectly.

Your dog apparently did not receive the itinerary.

Before deciding what went wrong, get curious:

What information did I actually give my dog?

Sometimes it can be interesting to take the leash out of the conversation. In a safe place—your living room, your fenced yard, or another space where your dog can safely explore—try the game without using the leash to guide where your dog goes.

Then watch.

Maybe your dog stays right with you.

Maybe your dog heads in a completely different direction.

Maybe your teammate leaves the itinerary altogether and goes to investigate something fascinating on the other side of the yard.

That's information, too.

The leash can mark the boundary you travel within together. It doesn't have to do the communicating for you.

Try something different. Change your movement. Change the game. Make a step easier. Change the timing. Then see what your teammate tells you in return.

Because Paw-Sport isn't just about teaching your dog what you mean.

It's also a chance for the two of you to become brilliant at understanding each other.

What did my dog understand? What did my dog tell me? What could I try differently?

Try This on Your Next Adventure

“Oh, There You Are!”

Here's a tiny experiment.

Go somewhere safe where your dog can explore a little. Then give them the chance to do exactly that.

Sniff. Wander. Investigate the suspicious leaf.

And watch.

At some point, your dog may look back at you, wander toward you, brush past you, or find some other wonderfully dog-shaped way to say:

“Oh, there you are.”

Notice it.

You can answer in whatever language the two of you understand—a smile, a happy word, a treat, a little game, or simply heading off together again.

Then let the Adventure continue.

Sassy and Jenny have built their own version of this into their shared language. For Sassy, checking in can mean:

“I'm not quite sure what we're doing here. Mom?”

And Jenny can answer:

“Yep. I'm still here. We've got this.”

Your teammate's version might look completely different.

That's the fun part.

How does your dog say, “There you are”?

Dispatches from Our Paw-Sport

Sassy Has Requested a Dance Break

Training with Sassy doesn't always look particularly serious.

There may be dancing.

There may be spinning.

There may be laughing.

There may be an unscheduled celebration because somebody did something fabulous and apparently that required a party.

That's part of how Jenny and Sassy have learned to understand each other.

They build games a little at a time. They experiment. They get things wrong. They try again. And somewhere along the way, waiting can become part of a game, a ridiculous distraction can become useful, and something that started as training can become part of their shared language.

Jedi had his Song of Our People.

Sassy has her own growing collection of games, jokes, and ways of saying, “I'm with you.”

And when Rebel arrives, he'll get to show Jenny who he is, too.

That's the interesting thing about traveling with another being:

You don't get to write both sides of the story.

You get to discover it together.

What ridiculous little thing has become part of your team's language?

Save Something From the Adventure

You don't need a training report.

You don't even need complete sentences.

Write a few words. Draw a picture. Add a photo. Stick something ridiculous to the page. A muddy paw print is excellent travel documentation.

Maybe you'll want to remember:

Today we tried...

My dog helped me notice...

The part that made me laugh...

Something I didn't expect...

Next time, maybe we'll...

Or write none of those.

It's your Paw-Sport.

Save whatever makes you look at that page someday and remember:

Oh yeah. We went there.

Breakthroughs, glorious flops, unexpected detours and all.

The Adventure Doesn't Have to End Here

Bring Your Paw-Sport to the Campfire

Some Adventures happen with four paws beside you.

Some happen when Travelers gather around and swap stories about where they've been.

Over on The Sassiverse Facebook page, you'll find more Adventures, Daily Sparkles, Trail Markers, discoveries from around the Sassiverse, and other Travelers making their own way through this wonderfully weird world.

Maybe you'll bring a Paw-Sport story with you.

Maybe you'll find an idea that sends you and your teammate somewhere completely unexpected.

Maybe you'll just pull up a seat and see what's happening.

There's room around the Campfire.

Ready, Travelers?

Where Will Your Paws Take You?

Maybe you already know what's in your mind's eye.

Maybe you have absolutely no idea.

Perfect.

Pick a possibility. Try something together. Pay attention to what your teammate tells you. Change the itinerary when you need to. Laugh at the detours.

And leave a little room for the Adventure you never could have planned.

Someday you might open your Paw-Sport and find a page that makes you think:

I never knew we'd become this team.

Wherever you go next, it's yours to discover together.
