Fences

You may already know what a boundary is. Have you ever imagined what yours looks like?

Sassiverse Translation Department

What if you could see it?

Maybe you have said yes while some part of you was quietly begging for no.

Maybe you needed space but could not figure out how to ask for it without hurting someone.

Maybe you kept going because surely you could handle one more thing.

And then one more thing brought friends.

Lots of friends.

Or maybe you already know boundaries well. You have made them. Changed them. Practiced them. And you still occasionally discover that knowing what a boundary is and knowing what you need right now are not quite the same thing.

So the Sassiverse tried an experiment.

What if an invisible need could have a shape?

Out in the world, people may call these boundaries.

Around here, we call them Fences.

Imagine Yours

Apparently Fences Can Get Weird

One Traveler might picture a tiny garden Fence. You can still see each other. Talk across it. Maybe wave.

Another might want a Gate with a bell. Please ring before entering.

Someone else needs a tall privacy Fence for a while.

Another Traveler has constructed a Brick Wall.

One appears to be sitting peacefully on a cloud.

Someone has requested approximately another solar system.

And then there is the Traveler who built a moat.

With crocodiles. 🐊

We have questions.

Why crocodiles?

What happened to require the moat?

Does the Fence have a Gate?

Can it change tomorrow?

And perhaps most interestingly:

What would yours look like?

Ask two people and you may get two completely different landscapes. Ask a kid and there is an excellent chance your Fence infrastructure is about to become much more interesting.

Something Just Appeared in Your Backpack

Boundary Dust

A tiny vial of shimmering dust is tucked between your other supplies.

The label contains very few instructions, which seems irresponsible but extremely on-brand.

Purpose: Give the space you need a shape.
Weight: Practically nothing. Mysteriously makes the whole Backpack feel a little lighter.
Range: Unknown. Field reports include garden Fences, Brick Walls, clouds, considerable distances, and at least one suspicious moat.
Magical Properties: Forms differently for different Travelers. Apparently it has opinions about one-size-fits-all solutions.

Instructions Found on the Vial

Open.
Take one pinch.
Place it in your palm.
Think about the space you need.
Blow.
See what forms.

Words Scratched Into the Bottom“What do I need?”

Field Note: Fence size, shape, distance, gates, crocodiles, and other unexpected developments may vary by Traveler and situation.

Excellent. You now own magical Fence-making powder.

This would be considerably more useful if you knew what to ask it to build.

Maybe you want to explore what you need. Maybe you already know and cannot find the words. Maybe someone dislikes your Fence. Maybe you keep walking through your own. Maybe you are wondering whether a Brick Wall can grow a Gate—or what on earth the crocodiles are for.

You do not have to learn all of it.

Find the piece that belongs on your trail today.
