Not Yet Is a Seat
There is a seat between YES and NO.
Humans are very good at accidentally turning decisions into game-show buzzers.
Choose now. Know now. Answer now.
The imaginary clock is counting down. Dramatic music is playing. Somebody in the audience appears deeply invested in a decision that is not theirs.
But imagine the Sunny Seats bus has one more seat tucked between YES and NO. The little brass plate says:
NOT YET.
It is not a waiting room where somebody confiscates your agency until your number is called. It is a seat you can choose when the useful answer is more time.
Maybe you need more information. Maybe your body is still yelling while your words are trying to whisper. Maybe you need to pull the Parachute first. Maybe you are too activated to have the conversation well. Maybe the answer matters enough that you do not want to manufacture certainty just to make the buzzer stop.
And maybe you genuinely do not know.
That last one is allowed to be a complete sentence for a while.
“I am not deciding from here” can itself be a decision.
Not Yet does not mean waiting is always wise. It does not promise that time will solve the problem. It simply separates I have not chosen yet from I have no agency.
Sometimes Not Yet gives you enough room to ask:
What would I want to know, feel, notice, or have underneath me before I choose?
You may discover you need information. A boundary. A night's sleep. A conversation. Distance. Courage. Nothing at all except another Tuesday.
Through Your Lens
What would make Not Yet useful rather than just uncomfortable?
Maybe there is something you want to know before you choose. Maybe you need your words back. Maybe you need a boundary, a conversation, some distance, or enough time for the imaginary game-show music to stop.
Or maybe you do not know what you need yet either.
You are allowed to know only that this is not the seat from which you want to decide.
Not Yet does not have to become forever. It does not require a five-year plan, a permission slip, or an inspirational quote taped to the refrigerator.
It just keeps YES and NO from pretending they are the only seats on the bus.
Also, this one has cupholders. We checked.
