Crossed Trails

Do you need possibility—or somewhere to land?

Sunny Spots and Sunny Seats sound like cousins who accidentally wore matching outfits to the reunion.

They are related. They are not the same tool.

Jenny learned the difference in a pet-store parking lot with Sassy.

Jenny had received some news that hit her hard, and her thoughts started spinning. She did not want to go inside. Going home sounded safer—but Jenny also knew herself well enough to suspect she might go home, keep spinning, and stare at the Rock until it became the entire landscape.

So she went into the pet store with Sassy.

Not to solve anything. Walking around with Sassy was something Jenny genuinely enjoyed, and she needed her brain to have a chance to settle before asking it to do useful work.

That was a Sunny Spot job: land first.

The pet store did not change the news. The point was smaller and more important in that moment: Jenny stopped asking a spinning brain to solve the whole landscape.

Later, once she had some ground under her feet, Jenny could think, write, ask questions, and see choices again.

That is where Sunny Seats begins to make sense.

A Sunny Spot may help you get your feet underneath you. A Sunny Seat may help you notice what you can do from there.

Sometimes you need both. Sometimes you need one. Sometimes you are perfectly regulated and simply cannot see beyond the one route you assumed existed.

And sometimes landing is the entire Adventure for today. There is no requirement to immediately turn regulation into a life decision.

A useful question might simply be:

Am I ready to look for possibilities—or do I need somewhere safe enough to land first?

Neither answer is more advanced.

Neither earns bonus Sassiverse points.

There are, in fact, no Sassiverse points. Sassy checked behind the counter.

If the answer is land first, Sunny Spots is there when you want it.
