Look Up From the Rock
What If This Isn't the Whole Landscape?
A Rock can get very close.
Close enough that for a while it is all you can see: the conversation, the news, the problem, the thing you cannot fix, the question without an answer.
Sunny Spots do not ask you to pretend the Rock is gone.
They can help you look up long enough to remember there is still a landscape around it.
Maybe a friend makes you smile for ten seconds. Sassy does something ridiculous. Sunlight hits the floor. Somebody in the checkout line is unexpectedly kind. A song catches you. Dinner still smells good. Life keeps happening around the Rock.
That tiny moment does not make the hard thing less real.
It simply means the hard thing is not literally everything.
Two things can be true at once.
This matters to me.
And I do not have to carry it at full weight every second.
Looking away is not automatically forgetting, forgiving, approving, giving up, or deciding you should feel differently.
Sometimes it is just letting your field of view become larger again.
And sometimes, while you are looking somewhere else, words or connections quietly begin moving again. Sometimes they do not. You may simply get a little room.
That counts too.
Through Your Lens
What is still in the landscape around your Rock?
You do not have to find a bright side. You do not have to make the Rock smaller than it feels.
Just notice whether anything else is also here: a person, an animal, a meal, a sound, a patch of light, a responsibility you care about, something funny, something ordinary, or one small part of yourself that the Rock has not swallowed.
Can the Rock be real without being the entire landscape?
