Before You Wander
A Note from Jennifer
I am not here because I have all the answers. I am here because stories, questions, and Trail Markers helped me keep walking.
The Sassiverse is my way of leaving a few of those Trail Markers behind for anyone who may find them helpful.

I Am Glad You Found Your Way Here
If you have wandered this far, you may be wondering what this place is, who it is for, and why someone would spend so much time building a universe around words like Wonder, Sunny Spots, Rocks, and Trail Markers.
The simplest answer is this:
I began building the Sassiverse because I needed the language I am now trying to share.
Not because I had all the answers.
Because I spent much of my life searching for language.
Language for fear.
Language for courage.
Language for boundaries.
Language for agency.
Language for becoming.
Sometimes I found that language in books.
Sometimes I found it in nature, photography, painting, cycling, dog training, conversations, mistakes, experiments, and difficult experiences.
Sometimes I found it because a dog reminded me to stop, look around, and notice something I might otherwise have walked past.
Little by little, those stories, questions, symbols, and discoveries began connecting.
They became the beginning of the Sassiverse.
The Whole Landscape
This Is Not a Place About Being Perfect
The Sassiverse is not about always being happy.
It is not about pretending painful things are secretly wonderful.
It is not about denying grief, fear, disappointment, conflict, or loss.
Life brings Rocks.
Some are small.
Some feel enormous.
Some remain part of our landscape for a very long time.
The Sassiverse does not ask us to ignore them.
It invites us to remember that the Rock is not the whole landscape.
There may still be beauty.
Wonder.
Connection.
Choice.
A Sunny Spot.
Another path.
A helping hand.
A question we have not asked yet.
The goal is not to pretend the Rock disappeared. The goal is to find enough footing to see the rest of the landscape again.
A Practice, Not a Finish Line
The Practice of Becoming
One of the ideas you will meet throughout the Sassiverse is something I call The Practice of Becoming.
I do not believe we become ourselves all at once.
I think we become through thousands of ordinary moments.
Questions.
Experiments.
Mistakes.
Conversations.
Boundaries.
Acts of courage.
Moments of rest.
Opportunities to notice.
Times we try again with new information.
The Practice is not a checklist.
It is not a race.
It is not a promise that every Rock will become easy.
It is an invitation to remain curious about who we are, what matters to us, what choices remain, and what we may still become.
You do not have to become someone else. You are allowed to participate in who you are becoming.
Begin With One Thing
Daily Wonder
You do not have to transform your entire life today.
You do not need a perfect gratitude list.
You do not have to pretend everything feels positive.
What if you simply noticed one thing?
One beautiful cloud.
One kind person.
One funny dog.
One quiet sunrise.
One unexpected rainbow.
One conversation that made you wonder.
One tiny moment you might otherwise have missed.
I sometimes call those moments Sparkles.
Daily Wonder is the practice of noticing at least one.
The goal is not to collect better moments. It is to notice more of the life you are already living.
A Place for Better Questions
About the Curiosity Lab
You will also hear me talk about the Curiosity Lab.
It is not a place where someone tells you who to become.
It is not therapy.
It is not a diagnostic tool.
It is not a machine that produces one correct answer.
It is a guided place to bring a Rock, tell the story, notice what your mind is saying, examine what you know, consider what else might be possible, and explore what choices remain.
You may experiment with language.
You may explore boundaries.
You may pause.
You may return.
You may discover that a different question is more helpful than the one you brought in.
The Curiosity Lab does not give you your answers. It helps you ask the next beautiful question.
Lived Experience and Ongoing Learning
A Note About Research
The Sassiverse began with lived experience.
These practices grew from the tools, questions, stories, and ways of noticing that helped me move through my own life.
As I continued learning, I discovered that researchers have also spent decades studying topics such as curiosity, awe, attention, gratitude, positive emotions, mindfulness, resilience, growth mindset, and well-being.
When I share research, I will do my best to point toward reputable sources and to clearly distinguish between:
- What I have personally experienced.
- What researchers have studied.
- What I am still wondering about.
I do not expect you to take my word for everything.
Curiosity is welcome here.
Questions are welcome here.
Changing your mind after learning something new is welcome here too.
A Gentle but Important Note
Stories and Practices Are Not Professional Advice
I am not a psychologist, therapist, counselor, physician, attorney, financial professional, or licensed mental health professional.
The stories, questions, metaphors, activities, and practices shared throughout the Sassiverse are based on my own lived experience, creativity, reflection, and ongoing learning.
They are offered for general informational, educational, and inspirational purposes.
Nothing in the Sassiverse is intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or mental health condition.
Nothing here should replace professional medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other qualified advice tailored to your individual situation.
If you are struggling, feel unsafe, or need support beyond what stories and reflective practices can provide, please reach out to an appropriate qualified professional or trusted local resource.
The Sassiverse may offer a Trail Marker. It should never be mistaken for the entire map.
Your Trail Belongs to You
Agency Is Sacred Here
You do not have to agree with everything you find here.
You do not have to use every metaphor.
You do not have to answer every question.
You do not have to walk every trail.
Keep what helps.
Adapt what fits.
Leave behind what does not belong in your backpack.
The goal of the Sassiverse is not to make anyone dependent on Jennifer, Sassy, a website, a journal, or a particular process.
The goal is to offer enough language, wonder, and borrowed belief for travelers to begin creating processes of their own.
I can offer a question, point toward the cord, or hold out a hand. The traveler chooses what to do next.
Until Our Trails Cross Again
One Trail Marker Is Enough
People sometimes ask what I hope the Sassiverse becomes.
The answer is surprisingly simple.
I hope you leave with one new question.
One useful word.
One new possibility.
One tiny moment of wonder.
One Trail Marker that helps you continue your own journey.
You do not have to believe everything here.
You do not have to become anyone other than the person you choose to keep becoming.
Welcome to the Sassiverse.
💛 Jennifer
