Experience More of the Hour

The clock does not slow down. You can still be here for more of it.

The Curious Case of the Disappearing Tuesday

Where Did the Afternoon Go?

Remember when summer seemed to last forever?

A child can spend ten glorious minutes investigating a bug on the sidewalk. A puddle deserves a closer look. A particularly excellent stick might need to come home.

There is so much to notice when so much of the world still feels new.

Then somewhere along the trail, the days get familiar. The same drive. The same grocery store. The same list of things to do.

Monday arrives. You blink. Somehow it's Thursday. Who authorized that?

The clock hasn't started skipping hours. But when familiar moments pass on autopilot, there may be fewer little discoveries to remember along the way.

And here's the fun part: wonder doesn't come with an age limit.

Imagine being ninety-five and somebody shouts, “BABY DUCKS!” Wouldn't it be marvelous if everyone still hurried to the window?

Maybe that's why a grocery-store trip can become a game of I Spy. Suddenly the shelves aren't just shelves. There's something to hunt for, something to notice, something that makes an ordinary errand feel a little less ordinary.

Or consider the Heart Stones tucked into places where someone might find them. Children may spot one and stop to investigate while grown-ups pass right by. Same path. Same stone. Different things noticed along the way.

And the world keeps offering surprises: the first snowflakes of the season, frost turning trees into glitter, a sky so impossibly blue it deserves a second look.

Even familiar things can take on new meaning as life changes. Movement that once seemed ordinary can feel like a gift when you've known a time when it wasn't so easy.

None of these moments makes the day longer. The grocery trip still takes the time it takes. The snow melts. The ducks eventually waddle off to conduct important duck business.

But now the day has a few more places where you were really there.

You can't add more hours to your life. But you can experience more of the hours you already have.
