Let It Be a Rock

Honor the Rock

You do not have to make something good, useful, deserved, or meaningful before you are allowed to acknowledge what it was like for you.

Some Rocks are inconveniences. Some are disappointments. Some involve grief, serious loss, irreversible consequences, or experiences that changed the landscape of a life.

The Sassiverse does not ask you to make a Rock smaller so it fits here.

Honoring a Rock does not mean honoring the event that caused it. It does not mean suffering was good. It does not mean everything happens for a reason. And it does not require you to find a lesson, a gift, closure, forgiveness, or a positive ending—now or ever.

The Rock is your experience of what happened. You are allowed to tell the truth about that experience.

A shared event can affect an entire family, team, community, or country while creating very different Rocks for the people who lived through it. The event may be shared. The Rock is personal.

Borrow a tiny story

Imagine three Travelers leave the same difficult meeting. One is furious because they felt dismissed. Another is relieved because a decision was finally made. A third is frightened about what happens next.

Same meeting. Different Rocks.

The Sassiverse does not need to decide which Traveler had the correct experience. Each can examine what happened inside their own Mirror.

Notice what the story revealsYou may understand one Traveler first. You may want more information before deciding what the meeting meant. You may imagine a fourth Rock entirely. That is the point: the event does not arrive with one required lived experience attached.

You do not have to take the story's answer with you. There isn't one. The story is simply somewhere safe to notice how Rocks can differ.

Honor is curiosity, not approval

Sometimes honoring the Rock means saying, “That hurt.” Sometimes it means admitting, “I don't understand why this affected me so much.” Sometimes it means, “I am not ready to investigate this.”

Maybe today you examine one tiny edge. Maybe today you pull the Parachute. Maybe today you find somewhere to land. Maybe today you close this book.

You choose.

If your Rock requires an excavator, Open Bay 3 is not a joke about the Rock. It is the Sassiverse making room for it. There is no maximum Rock size for admission.

The treasure does not justify the Rock.

You do not have to turn the Rock into a gift. If something meaningful ever grows in the landscape around it, that is a different thing. It may take a very long time. It may never arrive. Neither outcome changes your admission status here.
